Blanket

A thick, white sheet
covered the street
and children
played with warm hems
keeping their toes
from whipped wind blows.

The snow never
left the sky, the
white never left
the white; a quiet
wedding for kids
enduring strife.

All was plain and
bright and cold, so
happy to be
cold; the winter's
blanket brought the
late season's cheer.
