Sleeping in trails

Through the stiff air I could hear my watch clicking away seconds. Each second the same as the last, each minute passed away, the pressing hours never again to be awake or asleep. I look forward as that is all there is. I could foolishly guess what will come but embrace it none the less as the present presently goes. Each second I lie awake is another second I am still lying here awake. Another finger drips away from life, another being comes from the womb, another day comes and another leaves us.
