A Face

Two deep, complete azure eyes
and a pair of light, velvet lips
Appeared from the strapping fog
As though coming from nothing at all.

The disconnected phantom face
     whisked away all earthly thoughts
And captured my innocence
Leading my heart without defiance.

The still sound of tender waves
     distilled the promiscuous apparition
So it may drip down my throat
And intoxicate this poltroon's notes.

The set of eyes lay there laxed
     the lips unrestrained from words
I felt I might meet the mist again
To find out where I begin.
