Moss in Lincoln Park

the marked trees fluorescence
looked mystic in the fog
the bark wet and dark
leaving the stained green stark

some kind of cryptic symbol
of moss that covered all
i am certain they did not mind
life had finally sprung

might the jaywalkers or
transient residents take heed
the glow may shine into the
blacks of their eyes so clean

a millipede took a million
cushioned steps across and
thought it was nice so much
so that he toured around twice

ancient moss … cool touch
… wet perceptions and a
lack of lamentation … moss on
severed limbs you bind rain to me
